How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

A couple session is the simplest thing Kadrova books. There is no ring to hide, no ceremony to time and no children to entertain: just the two of you, an hour or so, and someone who knows where the light falls at that time. The real decision is not which city is prettiest but which setting matches how you want to look in the photographs.

Many couples who book in Poland are visiting Krakow or Gdansk for a few days, or are expats who have made Warsaw or Wroclaw home and want photos that show it. This page compares the four kinds of setting people choose most often in Poland, old towns, water, mountains and post-industrial cityscapes, and what changes with each: price, duration, outfits and the best hour. For city detail, see couple photoshoot in Krakow and couple photoshoot in Warsaw; for the service itself, couple photoshoot.

Every photographer you can be matched with has been vetted by us for couple work, languages spoken and how well they know their city. Tell us your dates and the place you picture, at no cost and with no commitment, and the reply names the photographer, the package and the price before anything is confirmed.

Where the session happens

  1. 01

    Krakow: Kazimierz and Zakrzówek

The cobbled courtyards and weathered townhouses of Kazimierz give an old-town feel without the Main Square crowds, and a few kilometres away Zakrzówek, a former quarry with turquoise water and limestone cliffs, looks like another country. The two combine well in a multi-location session. See couple photoshoot in Krakow.

Best time: Morning in Kazimierz; the last two hours before sunset at Zakrzówek

  2. 02

Warsaw: the Old Town at dawn and the Vistula boulevards

Castle Square and the Old Town lanes are empty early in the morning, while the Vistula boulevards and the sandy beaches on the Praga bank bring a relaxed, holiday feel to the middle of the city. For a modern look there are the glass towers around Rondo ONZ. More in couple photoshoot in Warsaw.

Best time: Dawn in the Old Town; golden hour by the river

  3. 03

Wroclaw: Ostrów Tumski and the Pergola at Centennial Hall

Ostrów Tumski with its gas lamps and the Tumski Bridge are at their best at dusk, while the Pergola beside Centennial Hall and Szczytnicki Park offer greenery and space. The Japanese Garden in the park is ticketed and seasonal, so check its hours.

Best time: Afternoon in the park; blue hour on Ostrów Tumski

  4. 04

Tricity: Sopot beach and the Orłowo cliff

The wide beach either side of the Sopot pier, and the cliff and small pier at Orłowo in Gdynia, give an open horizon, wind in your hair and soft light over the water. Outside summer the beaches are almost empty; in summer, come at sunrise.

Best time: Sunrise over the sea; sunset outside peak season

  5. 05

    Zakopane and the Tatras

Gubałówka with its view of Giewont, the meadows of Dolina Chochołowska or Kościeliska and the wooden highland houses below the Tatras are the most dramatic backdrop in the country. Within the Tatra National Park its management sets the rules for sessions. Mountains take walking and time, so sessions start from PLN 1,050.

Best time: Morning, before afternoon cloud; October for autumn colour

  6. 06

    Łódź: Księży Młyn and Manufaktura

The red brick of former textile mills, the workers’ houses of Księży Młyn and the courtyards of Manufaktura give a loft-like, cinematic look found nowhere else in Poland. It suits couples who prefer the city to nature, and works well on a cloudy day.

Best time: Late afternoon, when low sun warms the brick

Typically included

  • A planning exchange about the place, time of day and the look you want
  • A short route chosen for light and crowds, usually two or three spots
  • Guidance built on walking and talking rather than held poses
  • Professional editing of a curated selection
  • A private online gallery with high-resolution files for personal use
  • Options in the proposal: more time, a second location, sunrise or sunset, video

Preparation

  • Choose the setting first, old town, water, mountains or brick, and let outfits and timing follow.
  • Aim for the hour after sunrise or before sunset: in June around 5:00 and 20:00, in December around 8:30 and 14:30.
  • Cobbles and mountain paths both call for comfortable shoes; bring a smarter pair for close-ups.
  • By the sea and in the mountains, bring a warm layer even in summer. It comes off for the photos, not before.
  • Do not book dinner straight after. Couples who are rushing look like it.
  • Bring something that is yours: a blanket, a flask, the dog, a bike. A prop with a story looks better than a bought one.

Time of day

Old towns are quietest at sunrise, before cafés open and tour groups arrive. Beaches, riverbanks and meadows look best in the last hour before sunset, when the light is low and warm. In the mountains, mornings are better. In late June the sun sets around 21:00, in October before 18:00, so golden hour moves into the early afternoon in autumn.

Weather

Polish weather changes quickly and each region has its moods. In summer, inland areas and the Tatras build afternoon storms, so mountain sessions are planned for the morning. On the coast it is almost always breezy and evenings are cool even in July. Light rain looks good under an umbrella, in a gateway or in Łódź’s factory passages; your photographer watches the forecast with you, and the rescheduling terms are in your proposal.

Getting there

Polish cities are linked by fast trains, and a session usually starts near the centre: Kazimierz is a walk from the Main Square, Warsaw’s boulevards are minutes from Krakowskie Przedmieście, and the SKM commuter train links Gdansk with Sopot and Gdynia. Zakrzówek is a tram ride and a short walk from central Krakow. Trains and buses run from Krakow to Zakopane, and a funicular climbs Gubałówka from the town centre.

City, water, mountains or brick: choosing a setting

The four settings look very different in photographs and suit different couples.

Old towns give architecture, gateways and cobbles that work in any weather and keep the price at the starting level. Krakow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdansk and Torun have compact centres where an hour takes you through several distinct spots.

Water means the beaches of Sopot and Gdynia, the Vistula and Oder boulevards, Lake Malta in Poznan or Zakrzówek in Krakow. It looks best in the last light before sunset and pairs easily with an old-town session the same day.

Mountains, meaning Zakopane and the Tatras, give the most dramatic single image, but prices start from PLN 1,050 and sessions usually run 90 minutes. The weather carries more risk, which is why mornings are planned.

Post-industrial settings in Łódź and the brick miners’ estate of Nikiszowiec in Katowice give a cinematic urban look and cope well with grey skies.

If you cannot decide, think about your itinerary, not the map. The best setting is usually the one you can reach without rushing.

What to wear, by setting

Old town

Mid-tones such as navy, olive, rust or cream sit well against grey stone and colourful townhouses. A coat or jacket photographs better than very casual layers. Flat shoes or a low heel cope with cobbles.

Sea and lake

Light, flowing fabrics move well in the breeze, and pale colours hold up in light reflected off the water. You can go barefoot on the beach, but bring something warm for the evening; the Baltic cools down fast after sunset.

Mountains

Warm layers under the outfit, not instead of it: a coat or jumper that comes off for the photos and straight back on. Walking shoes for the trail, lighter ones for the final portraits if the ground allows. Stronger colours stand out against green, rock and snow.

Brick and lofts

Black, white, denim and deep saturated colours suit red brick. A leather jacket or checked coat looks natural here.

Everywhere, avoid fine stripes, small checks and large slogans.

Seasons

Spring (March to May)

Magnolia and cherry blossom in the parks from April, fresh green in May and snow still on the Tatra peaks. Days lengthen quickly and there are fewer tourists than in summer.

Summer (June to August)

The longest days, sunset around 21:00 and warm evenings by the sea, but also the biggest crowds in Krakow’s Main Square, Sopot and Zakopane, and afternoon storms. Mornings and weekdays are best.

Autumn (September to November)

Golden leaves in the parks and on Krakow’s Planty, beech and larch colour in the Tatras in October, and low, soft light for much of the day. For many couples it is the best time of year. After the clocks go back in late October it is dark before 17:00.

Winter (December to February)

Christmas markets and city illuminations, snow in the Tatras and short days, with sunset before 16:00. A session fits easily into an afternoon, and frost and rosy cheeks photograph better than you expect.

Frequently asked questions

Where should we have a couple photoshoot in Poland?

It depends on the look you want rather than on one single best place. The old towns of Krakow, Warsaw and Wroclaw give architecture and easy access, the Tricity gives the sea, the Tatras the most dramatic backdrop and Łódź an industrial, loft-like feel. Choose the setting that fits your style and your trip.

How much does a couple photoshoot in Poland cost?

An hour in a city begins at PLN 750; the Tatras and Zakopane begin at PLN 1,050. A 90-minute city session is from PLN 950, and two locations in one day from PLN 1,400. Your final figure reflects who photographs you, when and where, and it is in writing in your proposal.

Do we need an occasion for a couple session?

No. Anniversaries, a move to Poland, a first home or simply wanting good photos of the two of you are common reasons, and none is required. If a ring is involved, see proposal photography in Poland, and after the engagement, an engagement photoshoot.

What should we wear?

Muted colours that go together without matching work best: navy, olive, beige, bottle green, dusty pink. Avoid big logos and fine stripes, which flicker in photographs. Shoes matter more than you think; see the section on outfits below.

Can we book a couple session while visiting Poland for a few days?

Yes, and many visitors do, usually in Krakow, Warsaw or Gdansk. Send your dates and where you are staying, and you can ask for an English-speaking photographer in your request. Leave a spare day in case the weather needs a change of plan.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain looks good under a clear umbrella, in gateways and arcades or in factory passages. In a downpour the photographer suggests another time according to the terms in your proposal. In the mountains a reschedule is more common than in the city.
