Quick answers

How much does it cost?
Family Photoshoot starts from PLN 800. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
How long does it take?
A typical session lasts 1 hour and you receive around 30 edited photos.
What is included?
  • A conversation beforehand about your children, their ages, characters and daily rhythm
  • Choice of place and hour around naps and light
  • A session run as play, without stiff posing
  • Photos of the whole family, each child alone and the parents together
Where does it take place?
Popular places include Warsaw: Łazienki, Pole Mokotowskie and Kabaty Forest; Krakow: Błonia, Jordan Park and Wolski Forest; Tricity: beaches in Sopot, Orłowo and Brzeźno; Poznan: the Citadel and Lake Malta. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
When is the best time?
The best light is in the last two hours before sunset, but with small children the daily rhythm matters too.
How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

A good family session is not about everyone looking at the lens and smiling. It is about being able to see, ten years from now, what you were like: the younger one climbing onto Dad’s back, the older one refusing to let go of Mum’s hand. A family photographer runs the session like play and takes the photos along the way.

Many families who book in Poland are expats or international families settled in Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw or the Tricity, sometimes far from grandparents who would love the photos. This page covers what is worth knowing when you plan a family photo session here: good parks and beaches in the main cities, when an at-home session makes more sense than outdoors, how to time it around children and what affects the price.

Kadrova matches you with an independent photographer whose family portfolio, experience with children, languages and local knowledge we review before they join. You send a free, no-obligation request with your date and place and receive a proposal naming the photographer, the package and the price. You can ask for an English-speaking photographer in your request.

Where the session happens

  1. 01

Warsaw: Łazienki, Pole Mokotowskie and Kabaty Forest

Łazienki has classic paths, ponds and its famous red squirrels, which keep any child busy; check the park management’s rules for sessions. Pole Mokotowskie is open lawn for running, and Kabaty Forest in the south of the city gives tall pines and soft, diffused light.

Best time: Late afternoon in spring and autumn; morning in summer

  2. 02

Krakow: Błonia, Jordan Park and Wolski Forest

Błonia is a vast meadow five minutes from the centre with a view of Kościuszko Mound, and neighbouring Jordan Park has playgrounds and benches along its paths. Wolski Forest, with Piłsudski Mound, brings a woodland feel without leaving the city.

Best time: The last two hours before sunset

  3. 03

Tricity: beaches in Sopot, Orłowo and Brzeźno

A wide sandy beach is the easiest session for children: sandcastles, running to the water, hunting for shells. Outside summer the beaches of Sopot, Orłowo in Gdynia and Brzeźno in Gdansk are almost empty; in summer, come early in the morning or in the evening.

Best time: Evening outside summer; morning in July and August

  4. 04

Poznan: the Citadel and Lake Malta

Citadel Park is a large hill with avenues, meadows and a rose garden, and the shores of Lake Malta add water and open space. Both are pushchair-friendly and shady on hot days.

Best time: Afternoon in spring and autumn

  5. 05

    Wroclaw: Szczytnicki Park

One of the city’s largest parks, with old trees, a pond and the Pergola by Centennial Hall. In autumn the leaves form a carpet that children can roll in for as long as you let them.

Best time: Late afternoon in October

  6. 06

    At home, in any city

For families with babies, or in winter, the best place is often your own flat: the sofa, the bed, the kitchen, bath time. Your child is at home, there is no travel, and feeding and nap breaks do not upset the plan. All you need is a bright window.

Best time: Late morning, when most light comes into the flat

Typically included

  • A conversation beforehand about your children, their ages, characters and daily rhythm
  • Choice of place and hour around naps and light
  • A session run as play, without stiff posing
  • Photos of the whole family, each child alone and the parents together
  • Professional editing of a curated selection
  • A private online gallery with high-resolution files for personal use
  • Options in the proposal: more time, grandparents, a second location, an album

Preparation

  • Choose a time after a nap and a meal, not before; a hungry, tired child cannot be talked into anything.
  • Dress in three or four colours that go together, without matching T-shirts or big prints.
  • Bring snacks that do not crumble or stain, water and wipes.
  • Bring a favourite toy or book that helps your child feel at ease.
  • Do not promise a reward for good behaviour; children told to behave go stiff.
  • For an at-home session, tidy one or two rooms by the window, not the whole flat.
  • Keep a back-up date in case a child falls ill; the rescheduling terms are in your proposal.

Time of day

The best light is in the last two hours before sunset, but with small children the daily rhythm matters too. In summer, when the sun sets around 21:00, golden hour falls after bedtime, so a morning between 8:00 and 10:00 works better. In spring and autumn late afternoon is ideal, and in winter, with sunset before 16:00, sessions are planned around midday or at home.

Weather

Polish spring and autumn can be cool and windy, so children need a warm layer under their outfits. In summer the midday sun is too hot and harsh for photos, and afternoon storms are common. The coast is almost always breezy. If the weather turns, an outdoor session can become an at-home one, or move according to the terms in your proposal.

Getting there

Most parks are a short tram or car ride away, and with children what matters most is parking close by and a toilet nearby, which your photographer can advise on. The Tricity beaches are reached by SKM commuter train or car. For an at-home session the photographer comes to you, and travel outside their city is priced in the proposal.

Timing the session to your children’s ages

The best light is no use if your child is sleepy. So the hour is chosen for the children first and for the sun second.

AgeWhat worksBest time
Baby under 1At-home session or a short outdoor one on a blanketAfter a feed and a nap, usually late morning
1–3 yearsA short route, lots of play, a favourite toyAfter the afternoon nap but before dinner
3–6 yearsChasing games, leaves, puddles, the beachLate afternoon in spring and autumn, morning in summer
School ageConversation, a shared activity, some humourGolden hour, even late in summer
TeenagersQuiet portraits, less posingGolden hour, a short session

If your children are of different ages, time it for the youngest. The older ones adapt more easily.

Cities and places compared

Each city also has smaller neighbourhood parks, often quieter and closer to home. Your photographer knows the area and can suggest a place that will not be crowded on your chosen afternoon.

Seasons for a family session

Spring

Blossom in April and May, fresh grass and mild temperatures. A good time for toddlers, though evenings can be cool, so bring a cardigan.

Summer

Long, warm days, but harsh midday sun and late sunsets after bedtime. Morning sessions work best, or an evening on the beach with older children.

Autumn

For many families the best season: golden leaves, warm light from about 16:00 and fewer people in the parks. September and October are also a good moment for photos for a calendar or Christmas cards.

Winter

Short days, with sunset before 16:00, but snow and sledging can give the happiest photos of the year. On frosty days an at-home session by the Christmas tree is a calm alternative.

Family milestones worth photographing

A family session needs no occasion, but many families build an ongoing story from several sessions.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a family photographer cost in Poland?

A family session starts from PLN 800 for about 60 minutes in a city, or from PLN 1,050 in Zakopane. More time, a larger family, weekends, travel and an album raise the price. The exact figure is in your proposal before you book.

How long does a family session with small children take?

Usually about an hour, because small children rarely manage longer. With older children or grandparents it can be extended. The photographer takes breaks whenever a child needs one.

What if my child will not cooperate?

Nothing, it is normal and a family photographer is ready for it. Good photos come from play, cuddles and even tears that pass quickly. Calm parents and no pressure help most.

Outdoors or at home: which is better?

Outdoors gives light, space and movement, so it suits children who walk and run. At home is better with babies, in winter and for children who need familiar surroundings. You can also combine the two.

Can we get an English-speaking family photographer in Poland?

You can ask for one in your request. Each photographer’s languages are listed on their profile, and we take your language into account when we check who is free. For children who speak little Polish, play matters more than language anyway.

Can we also book a newborn or maternity session?

Yes, Kadrova also arranges a maternity photoshoot from PLN 800 and a newborn session from PLN 1,100. Many families turn them into one story with the same photographer.
