Wedding Portrait Session in Sopot
In Sopot, a wedding portrait session — plener ślubny in Polish — is about two hours of photos in your wedding outfits by the Bay of Gdańsk on a day of its own, before or after the wedding: sunrise on the sand, the long wooden pier, the foot of Orłowo Cliff or the beech forest above the resort, with a Tricity photographer found by Kadrova; from PLN 1,500.

One fact shapes every Sopot session: the beach faces east, across the Bay of Gdańsk. The sun rises over the water, so dawn gives the strongest pictures here — gold light on the sand, an empty pier and a flat sea. In the evening the sun drops behind the town and the wooded hills, and the light on the beach turns soft and diffuse.
The second fact is the season. In July and August the beach, the pier and Monte Cassino street are full from morning to midnight, so a midday session means fighting crowds. Early morning, or May and September, changes that completely, and the Tricity Landscape Park woods a few minutes inland give greenery when the wind off the sea is too strong.
The Tricity photographers we suggest have shared whole beach sessions with us and know what a sea breeze does to a veil. Tell us your date and ideas and a team member answers with a name, a plan and a quote. Where the session happens
- 01
Sopot Pier
The longest wooden pier in Europe, its boards running far out into the bay with beach on both sides. At dawn it can be nearly empty, and from the sand alongside you shoot it side-on with the sun coming up over the water. In season entry is charged, and the operator’s rules for photo sessions are worth checking.
Best time: Sunrise; evenings too outside the season.
- 02
Sopot beach
Wide pale sand, grassy dunes and wooden groynes that give frames lines and rhythm. North and south of the pier the beach empties quickly, so even in summer you can find a free stretch. Bare feet and a dress on wet sand is the classic, but plan what happens to the train once it meets the water.
Best time: Dawn all year; evenings from September to May.
- 03
Orłowo Cliff
A clay escarpment covered in forest dropping straight onto a stony beach in Gdynia-Orłowo, just past the Sopot boundary, with a small pier beside it. It is a nature reserve, so you shoot from the beach below rather than climbing the slope; check the rules before the session.
Best time: Sunrise and early morning.
- 04
Spa Square, lighthouse and Monte Cassino street
The square at the pier entrance with its lighthouse and fountain, and beyond it the Monte Cassino promenade with townhouses and the Crooked House. It is a resort-town backdrop that pairs well with the beach in one session. By day it is packed, so come early.
Best time: Early morning, before the cafés open.
- 05
Tricity Landscape Park woods
Beech woods on the hills above Sopot, with ravines and paths a few minutes’ drive from the beach. They give shelter from the wind, soft light, and green in spring or gold in autumn — a good second half after a sunrise on the sand.
Best time: May for fresh green, October for golden beech.
Typically included
- A conversation about seaside spots, time of day and style
- A plan with parking, the way down to the beach and a place to change shoes
- Checking the forecast and wind strength the evening before
- About two hours of photographs on the beach and in one more place
- A fallback for wind or rain: the woods above Sopot or sheltered lanes
- Your favourite frames, retouched, in a web gallery; delivery date in the proposal
Preparation
- For sunrise, book hair and make-up early; in June the sun rises over the bay before 4.30 am.
- Bring a towel, a second pair of shoes and a bag for a wet train; sand and seawater cling to fabric.
- Pin the veil firmly or take it off for some frames — there is almost always wind by the sea.
- Bring a warm layer; by the water at dawn it is noticeably cooler than in town.
- Check the pier’s entry and session rules for your date.
Time of day
Dawn is the best time in Sopot: the sun rises over the sea and the beach and pier are empty. In summer that means starting around 4–4.30 am, in September around 6 am. Evenings work outside the season, when the beach is calmer and the sky over the bay turns pink from the sunset behind you.
Weather
On the Baltic the wind rarely stops and the weather turns quickly: sun, cloud and a passing shower can all arrive within the hour. The water stays cool even in summer, and spring mornings are often misty, which gives soft, delicate frames. If it is too windy, your photographer moves part of the session into the woods or quiet side streets.
Getting there
The pier, Spa Square and Monte Cassino street are next to each other, a few minutes from Sopot SKM station. Orłowo is a few minutes by car or SKM train, and the woods above town a few minutes by car. In summer parking by the beach is hard, so your photographer plans a spot ahead. Gdańsk to Sopot takes about 20–30 minutes.

How much is a wedding portrait session in Sopot?
Beach and pier portraits in Sopot cost from PLN 1,500 for roughly two hours and about 60 finished images. Sunrise, extra spots or a summer weekend raise it, and the pier ticket sits on its own line in your proposal.
When is the best time for beach wedding photos in Sopot?
Dawn, because the beach faces east and the sun comes up over the water. For the season, May, June and September are best: warm enough, with fewer crowds than July and August.
Do we have to pay to shoot on Sopot pier?
In season the pier charges for entry, and its operator sets the rules for professional sessions. Check current prices and terms before your date. You can also photograph the pier from the beach next to it without going on.
What if it is very windy or raining on the day?
Your photographer checks the forecast the evening before and may suggest another hour or move part of the session into the woods above Sopot. Rescheduling terms are in your proposal.
Can we combine Sopot with Gdańsk or Gdynia?
Do you arrange sessions elsewhere in Poland?
Yes — see the Kraków wedding portrait session or the Tatra session in Zakopane, and wedding photography in Poland for wedding-day coverage.
