Quick answers

How much does it cost?
Photoshoot in Warsaw starts from PLN 750. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
When is the best time?
In June the sun rises around 4:15 and sets around 21:00; in December it sets as early as 15:25. Sunrise is the only time Castle Square and the Market Square are almost empty.
Getting there
Warsaw has two metro lines (M1 and M2), a dense tram network, buses and SKM suburban trains, which link Chopin Airport with the centre.
Where does it take place?
Popular places include Old Town and Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy); Łazienki Królewskie (Royal Baths Park); Wilanów Palace and gardens; Vistula Boulevards and Świętokrzyski Bridge. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

Warsaw gives you more contrast in one session than any other Polish city. The pastel Old Town, rebuilt after 1945 and listed by UNESCO, sits a short ride from the neoclassical Łazienki Park, the baroque palace at Wilanów, the glass towers of the centre and the pre-war tenements of Praga. The metro and trams link them, so two locations in 90 minutes is a realistic plan.

The city is spread out, though, and the distance between parks surprises visitors. A good Warsaw shoot starts with a map: pick one main area and at most one extra. The Old Town connects on foot with the river boulevards and the BUW roof garden; Łazienki sits on the Royal Route; Praga pairs naturally with Skaryszewski Park.

People mostly book here for couple photoshoots in Warsaw, proposals and family sessions. If you are planning to pop the question, see our page on proposal photography in Warsaw; for the big day, read about our wedding photographers in Warsaw. Expats also book personal branding sessions against the modern skyline.

  1. 01

Old Town and Castle Square (Plac Zamkowy)

Sigismund's Column, the brick façade of the Royal Castle and, a few steps away, the Old Town Market Square with its pastel houses, the Barbican and the restored city walls. Narrow lanes such as Kanonia and Piwna give soft, even light on sunny days. From the terrace beside the castle you look across the Vistula to Praga.

    Best time
Sunrise and the first two hours after it, before tour groups arrive; in winter, blue hour with the castle lit.
    Access
Metro M2 to Ratusz Arsenał or a tram to Plac Zamkowy, then on foot. Cobblestones, so flat shoes help.
  2. 02

    Łazienki Królewskie (Royal Baths Park)

The largest park in central Warsaw: the Palace on the Isle reflected in the water, the Chopin Monument, the Old Orangery, stone bridges and avenues of old trees. Peacocks wander the paths and red squirrels come very close, which children love. The park has its own rules for photo sessions, so check the current conditions with the museum before you book.

    Best time
Early morning and late afternoon; blossom in spring, gold leaves in autumn. On summer Sundays the Chopin Monument hosts open-air concerts and is busy.
    Access
Buses along Aleje Ujazdowskie (the Royal Route), with several entrances. Flat paths, pram-friendly.
  3. 03

    Wilanów Palace and gardens

The baroque residence of King Jan III Sobieski, with a formal French garden, a rose garden and a landscape park by the lake. The symmetry of the parterre and the gilded façade suit elegant outfits; the shaded English park suits families. Entry to the gardens and the rules for photography, including paid sessions, are set by the palace museum, so check them before booking.

    Best time
Weekday mornings; May and June for roses and fresh green, October for colour.
    Access
Buses from the centre along the Royal Route, including lines 116 and 180, about 30–40 minutes. Gravel paths around the palace.
  4. 04

    Vistula Boulevards and Świętokrzyski Bridge

Wide modern boulevards on the left bank between the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge and the Copernicus Science Centre, looking at the cable-stayed Świętokrzyski Bridge and the wild, sandy right bank. It is the place for relaxed walking shots, steps down to the water and city lights after dark.

    Best time
Golden hour and blue hour; very busy on summer weekend evenings, calmer midweek.
    Access
Metro M2 to Centrum Nauki Kopernik, then a few minutes on foot. Cross to Praga on the footbridge or a road bridge.
  5. 05

    Skaryszewski Park

A historic park in Praga-Południe with Kamionkowskie Lake, little bridges, canals and old willows. Tourists rarely come here, so even on a warm afternoon you can find an empty frame. It works especially well for maternity sessions and families with small children.

    Best time
Late afternoon until sunset; autumn colour over the water.
    Access
Trams along Aleja Waszyngtona stop right by the park. Flat paths and plenty of benches.
  6. 06

    Praga and Ząbkowska Street

Pre-war tenements, courtyard shrines and the red-brick buildings of a former vodka factory, now the Koneser centre. It is a backdrop with character for couples, portraits and personal branding, the opposite of the polished Old Town. Only enter private courtyards with the residents' permission.

    Best time
Weekday afternoons; after rain the wet cobbles reflect the light beautifully.
    Access
Metro M2 to Dworzec Wileński, then 5 minutes on foot. Uneven pavements.
  7. 07

    BUW roof garden (Ogrody BUW)

The garden on the roof of the Warsaw University Library in Powiśle, one of the largest roof gardens in Europe. Pergolas, walkways, green walls and a view of the Vistula and Świętokrzyski Bridge give you greenery and skyline in one place. It opens seasonally, usually from spring to autumn; check the opening hours and session rules with the university.

    Best time
Late afternoon from May to September, when the planting is at its fullest.
    Access
Metro M2 to Centrum Nauki Kopernik, about 5 minutes' walk. Stairs or a ramp from Dobra Street.

Seasons

May and June bring lush parks, chestnut blossom and long days. July and August are warm, sometimes hot, and the Old Town is full of visitors. September and October turn Łazienki and Skaryszewski Park gold and give soft light all day, a favourite time for family sessions. In winter the Old Town and Krakowskie Przedmieście are lit for Christmas from early December, which looks good on short sessions at dusk.

Time of day

In June the sun rises around 4:15 and sets around 21:00; in December it sets as early as 15:25. Sunrise is the only time Castle Square and the Market Square are almost empty. Late afternoon belongs to the parks and the river, where golden hour falls on the water. A sunrise or sunset slot may carry a surcharge, stated in your proposal.

Weather

Warsaw has cold winters and warm summers. Summer afternoons can bring thunderstorms, so keep the Old Town arcades, the castle courtyards or the Koneser buildings in reserve. In autumn and winter the sky can stay grey for days; that soft light flatters portraits, and wet cobbles and street lamps look good after dark. If the wind is strong on the river, move to a park where the trees give shelter.

Getting there

Warsaw has two metro lines (M1 and M2), a dense tram network, buses and SKM suburban trains, which link Chopin Airport with the centre. One ZTM time ticket covers metro, trams, buses and SKM within the city zone. The Old Town, the boulevards and the BUW garden are walkable from each other; Łazienki and Wilanów are easiest by bus. Street parking in the centre is paid on weekdays, so photographers usually meet you at a metro station or tram stop.

Good to know

A private session in public streets and squares does not normally need permission, but Łazienki, Wilanów and the BUW garden each have their own rules, tickets and conditions for photo sessions, so always check the current terms with them directly. Drone flights are heavily restricted over central Warsaw; check the rules well in advance if you want aerial shots. Visit churches outside Mass times. Prices start at PLN 500 for 30 minutes and PLN 750 for a couple session; family sessions from PLN 800, and two areas in one booking from PLN 1,400. See pricing for what changes the figure.

  • Book sunrise if you want Castle Square to yourself; after 10:00 you share it with tour groups.
  • Choose one main location and at most one extra; travelling between parks eats into your time.
  • Check the session rules at Łazienki and Wilanów before sending a request.
  • In Praga, wear plain colours: the brick and street art already bring plenty of texture.
  • Have a rain plan in summer: the Old Town arcades and the Koneser courtyards.
  • In winter, book 15:00–16:00 to catch both daylight and the Christmas lights.

Frequently asked questions

Where are the best photo spots in Warsaw?

The Old Town and Castle Square, Łazienki Park, Wilanów Palace, the Vistula Boulevards, Skaryszewski Park, Praga's Ząbkowska Street and the BUW roof garden. Each has a different mood, from royal to industrial. Your photographer will help match the place to the session and the season.

How much does a photographer in Warsaw cost?

Sessions start at PLN 500 for 30 minutes and PLN 750 for a 60-minute couple shoot; family sessions from PLN 800 and proposals from PLN 950. The final price depends on the photographer, date, time of day and duration. You see the exact figure in your proposal.

Can we do a photoshoot in Łazienki Park?

Łazienki has its own regulations for photo sessions, including commercial and wedding shoots. The rules and any fees can change, so check them on the Łazienki Królewskie museum website before you fix a date.

When is Warsaw Old Town least crowded?

From sunrise to around 9:00, especially on weekdays. From late morning until evening the Market Square and Castle Square fill with visitors, particularly from May to September.

Can we combine two Warsaw locations in one session?

Yes, as a multi-location session from PLN 1,400. The Old Town works well with the boulevards or the BUW garden because you can walk between them. Łazienki and Wilanów pair better with each other than with Praga.

Where can we shoot in Warsaw if it rains?

The Old Town arcades and gateways, the courtyards of the Koneser centre and covered passages in the city centre all work. In heavy rain your photographer will suggest a new time; how rescheduling works is set out in your proposal.

Can I ask for an English-speaking photographer in Warsaw?

Yes, mention it in your availability request. Each photographer's languages are listed on their profile, and we check who with the right language is free on your date.
