Quick answers

How much does it cost?
Wedding Portrait Session starts from PLN 1,500. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
How long does it take?
A typical session lasts 2 hours and you receive around 60 edited photos.
What is included?
  • A planning exchange about the place, time, style and a rain plan
  • A route chosen for the light and for crowds at that hour
  • About two hours of shooting, usually in the golden hour before sunset
  • Guidance on posing and on moving in a long dress over uneven ground
Where does it take place?
Popular places include Kraków, Zakopane, Sopot, Warsaw, and Gdańsk. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
Who is it for?
  • Couples who had little time for portraits on the wedding day
  • Couples who want mountain or seaside photographs far from their venue
  • Couples who want to show plener photographs to guests at the reception
  • Couples after a civil or very small wedding without full-day coverage
How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

On the wedding day itself, portraits get about twenty minutes between dinner and the first dance. A plener gives you two hours, the light you choose and a place you could never reach from the reception: the Tatra mountains, a Baltic beach, the Vistula boulevards in Kraków at sunrise.

In Poland most couples do their plener a few weeks after the wedding, once the day is behind them and the season looks the way they want. A growing number do it before, and show the photographs to guests at the reception. Either works; what matters is that the dress and suit are still presentable and that you have shoes for the terrain.

Kadrova matches you with an independent photographer who knows the place, knows when it is crowded and what rules apply. You can book your wedding-day photographer or a local one if you are travelling across the country. Full-day coverage is described on our wedding photography page.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send a request

Tell us where you would like your plener and roughly when. A date range is ideal, as the photographer will pick the day by the forecast. The request is free and places you under no obligation.

  2. 2

We match a photographer to the place

We look for a photographer who knows your chosen location and reply personally. If the plan involves tickets, permits or an early start, we tell you what to check.

  3. 3

    You receive a proposal

It names the photographer and states the duration, what is included, travel, price and payment terms, as well as the delivery time. See pricing for how starting prices work.

  4. 4

    Shoot on the chosen day

Once you accept, the photographer fixes the time and meeting point with you. If the forecast is poor, they suggest another day under the terms in your proposal.

Where the session happens

In Kraków a plener often starts at Wawel and on the Vistula boulevards at sunrise, or in the streets of Kazimierz. The Tatras need more time and a weather plan; see wedding portraits in Zakopane. On the coast, couples choose the pier and beach in Sopot and the Main Town of Gdańsk, close enough to combine. In Wrocław, Ostrów Tumski is a favourite, where the gas lamps are still lit by hand at dusk.

Preparation tips

  • Give a date range rather than one day. In the mountains or by the sea, the weather decides everything.
  • Bring comfortable shoes for trails and sand, and change into your wedding shoes for close portraits.
  • For Sopot pier and popular spots in the Tatras, check entry rules and any fees with the operator before fixing the time.
  • Bring a friend to help with the dress, especially on a beach, where wind and sand get everywhere.
  • Mornings are empty, evenings have warmer light. In June the sun rises before 5:00, so sunrise is for the determined.
  • If you plan to sell or clean the dress, schedule the plener before that.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding portrait session cost in Poland?

A plener through Kadrova starts from PLN 1,500 for about two hours. The price rises with longer travel, a sunrise start, several locations, or add-ons such as a drone or video. The exact figure is in your proposal before you book.

When is the best time for a plener?

Most couples do it a few weeks after the wedding, but many do it before. The best light is in the last hour before sunset, and the Tatras are at their most colourful in September and October. In winter, plan for short days and the cold.

Does it have to be our wedding photographer?

No. The same photographer gives a consistent style, but if the plener is far from your venue, a local photographer who knows the light and terrain is often the better choice. You can ask about both options.

Do we need a permit to shoot in the Tatras?

Rules for photography in the Tatra National Park are set by the park and may apply to commercial sessions. Check the current rules on the park’s website or ask a photographer who works there regularly. Entry to the park’s trails is also ticketed.

What if it rains on the day?

If the forecast is poor, the photographer will suggest another day or a sheltered spot. Light rain and mist can make striking pictures, especially in the mountains. The rescheduling terms are set out in your proposal.

Can we combine two places?

Yes, if they are close together, such as Gdańsk and Sopot or Kazimierz and Wawel. A longer drive needs more time and raises the price, which you will see in the proposal. Send a request naming both places.
