How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

Most people have hundreds of holiday snaps and not one good portrait. A portrait session is an hour in which the photographer finds your light and angle, and all you have to think about is where to stand and where to look. The reason can be a birthday, a new chapter, a new look or simply wanting to see yourself in a good photograph.

Many visitors book one in Kraków, Gdańsk or Warsaw to have photos of themselves from the trip rather than of the trip alone. In Polish this is often called a sesja kobieca, a portrait session focused on a woman’s image, but the session suits anyone. Style, colours and place are agreed beforehand, and during the shoot you get concrete prompts instead of “just be natural”.

Kadrova does not employ photographers. We match you with an independent professional experienced in portraiture and send a proposal with their name, scope and price before anything is booked. If you need photos for work, LinkedIn or a company website, a personal branding session is the better fit.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send a free availability request

Give the city, date and the style you like: outdoors, city or studio, elegant or relaxed. It is free and places you under no obligation: check availability.

  2. 2

We match you with a photographer

We look for a photographer whose portfolio matches the style you describe and who is free in your city. We reply personally, and photographers’ languages are listed on their profiles.

  3. 3

    You receive a proposal

It names the photographer and sets out time, scope, price and payment terms. The delivery time for your photos is stated there too. Pricing explains how starting prices work.

  4. 4

    The shoot

The photographer agrees a meeting point and a time that suits the light. The first quarter of an hour is a warm-up; the strongest frames usually come in the second half.

Where the session happens

In Kraków, the Main Market Square is empty only early in the morning, while the courtyards of Kazimierz and the Planty park work at any hour. In Warsaw, the Old Town before 8:00 and the tenement streets and courtyards of Praga give a calm backdrop. In Gdańsk the Long Embankment looks best at sunrise, and in Sopot the east-facing beach gives warm morning light; the pier charges an entry fee in season, so check the current terms with the operator. A session in Zakopane starts from PLN 1,050, as it involves more travel and usually 90 minutes. A studio is a good choice in winter or for several outfits.

Preparation tips

  • Book the hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. In June the sun sets after 21:00; in December before 16:00.
  • Bring two outfits in different tones and change halfway. It looks like two separate shoots.
  • If you want a make-up artist, book them just before the session near the meeting point and leave time to get there.
  • Avoid large logos and fine stripes. Plain fabrics in muted colours work with any backdrop.
  • Wear shoes you can walk on cobbles in, and switch to smarter ones only for full-length shots.
  • Sleep well and drink water the day before. Tiredness shows in close-ups more than anything else.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a portrait photoshoot in Poland cost?

A portrait session through Kadrova starts from PLN 750 for about 60 minutes in one place and around 30 edited photos. In Zakopane it starts from PLN 1,050. The final price depends on the photographer, place, date and add-ons, and is stated in your proposal before you book.

What is a sesja kobieca?

Sesja kobieca is the Polish name for a portrait session focused on a woman’s image: styling, make-up, movement and mood. It can be elegant or relaxed, outdoors or in a studio. You agree the style with the photographer beforehand.

I do not know how to pose. Is it worth it?

Yes, most people say this at the start of a portrait session. The photographer gives concrete prompts: where to put your feet, what to do with your hands, where to look. You do not need to know how to pose, only to respond to simple requests.

Outdoors or studio?

Outdoors gives natural light and a backdrop that says something about the place, but depends on weather and time of day. A studio gives full control of light and a neutral background in any weather. Studio hire, if needed, is priced in your proposal.

Are hair and make-up included?

No, the starting package covers photography and editing. You can book hair and make-up yourself, or mention in your request that you would like the photographer to recommend someone. Any cost for that is then quoted separately.

What happens if it rains?

Light rain can work with an umbrella, in gateways and under arcades. If the forecast is poor, the photographer will suggest another time or date. The exact rescheduling and cancellation terms are set out in your proposal.
