Newborn Photography at Home

A newborn session photographs a baby in the first weeks of life, ideally within about 14 days of birth, at the family’s home and around the baby’s feeding and sleep. Kadrova arranges it in Poland with an independent photographer experienced with newborns, from PLN 1,100.

Quick answers

How much does it cost?
Newborn Photography starts from PLN 1,100. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
How long does it take?
A typical session lasts 2 h 30 min and you receive around 25 edited photos.
What is included?
  • A conversation beforehand about style (lifestyle or posed), colours and who will be in the photos
  • A session at your home of about 2.5 hours, with breaks for feeding and changing
  • Safe poses only; more complex shots made as composites with a parent supporting the baby
  • Photos of the baby, parents and siblings, on the bed, in arms and in the nursery
Where does it take place?
Popular places include Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Poznań. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
Who is it for?
  • Parents who want photos of the very first days, before the baby changes
  • Families who would rather stay home than take a newborn to a studio
  • Parents recovering from a caesarean, for whom going out is still hard
  • Older siblings meeting a new brother or sister
How does booking work?
Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.

In the first two weeks a newborn sleeps most deeply and settles easily into the curled position it knew in the womb. From about the third week babies usually sleep more lightly and stretch out more. Lifestyle photos, the baby in your arms and in everyday moments, can be taken later too, during the first months.

The session takes place at your home, so there is no driving a days-old baby across the city. It lasts about two and a half hours, because most of that time is feeding, changing, soothing and waiting for sleep. The photographer brings the equipment, usually works with window light and follows the baby’s rhythm rather than the other way round.

Safety comes before any striking shot. Photographers working through Kadrova do not use risky poses: babies are not suspended in props or propped on their own arms. Shots that look difficult are made as composites of several frames, with a parent’s hand supporting the baby throughout. If you are still expecting, see our maternity photoshoot.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send a request during pregnancy

Give your due date, your city and the style you like. It is free and places you under no obligation: send a request. How the exact day is fixed after the birth is set out in your proposal.

  2. 2

We match you with a photographer

We look for a photographer experienced with newborns who works in your area and reply personally. We review portfolios for safe posing, not just for the look. Photographers’ languages are listed on their profiles.

  3. 3

    You receive a proposal

It names the photographer and states the scope, price and payment terms, such as a deposit. The delivery time for your photographs is stated there too. Pricing explains how starting prices work.

  4. 4

A session at home, at the baby’s pace

After the birth you let the photographer know and agree a day. On the day they start with the baby awake or in your arms, and take sleeping shots when the baby drifts off after a feed.

Where the session happens

A newborn session happens in your home, so the city matters mainly for the photographer’s travel. Most requests come from Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław and the Tricity around Gdynia. Your flat does not need to be large: one window with daylight and a bed or a patch of floor next to it is enough. For other ways to photograph the whole family, see family photoshoots in Poland.

Preparation tips

  • Turn the heating up an hour before the session. A lightly dressed newborn needs the room noticeably warmer than adults find comfortable.
  • Feed the baby just before the photographer arrives, or plan a feed at the start. A full baby sleeps more deeply.
  • Wear plain, light clothes yourself: beige, white, grey. Patterns and slogans pull attention away from the baby.
  • Open the curtains and switch off the ceiling light. Photographers usually work with daylight, so late morning tends to be best.
  • If the baby or anyone at home is ill, reschedule. The photographer will not come with a cold either.
  • Do not clean the whole flat. One room and a bed with plain bedding is all that will show.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a newborn photographer cost in Poland?

A newborn session through Kadrova starts from PLN 1,100 for about 2.5 hours at your home and around 25 edited photos. The price depends on the photographer, city, travel and add-ons such as an album. The final figure is in your proposal before you book.

When is the best time for newborn photos?

Ideally within the first two weeks of life, when the baby sleeps most deeply and settles into curled poses. A lifestyle session with the baby in your arms also works in the first months. That is why it is worth sending a request while you are still pregnant.

Is a newborn photoshoot safe for the baby?

Yes, when the photographer puts safety before effect. Photographers working through Kadrova avoid risky poses, never suspend babies in props and make complex shots as composites with a parent supporting the baby. A parent is present throughout and can stop the session at any time.

What is the difference between lifestyle and posed newborn photos?

Lifestyle photos show the baby in everyday moments: in your arms, feeding, on your bed, with natural movement. Posed photos are carefully arranged shots of the sleeping baby on plain fabrics. Many sessions combine both, and you agree the mix with the photographer beforehand.

Why does the session take 2.5 hours?

Most of the time goes on feeding, changing and settling the baby. The photography itself happens in short stretches in between. The extra time means nobody rushes and the baby is never woken for a photo.

What if the baby arrives early or late?

The session day is only fixed after the birth, so an early or late arrival is expected. Let the photographer know when you are ready and the day is agreed under the terms in your proposal.
