Quick answers
- How much does it cost?
- Vacation Photographer starts from PLN 750. The final price depends on the place, duration, date, time of day, travel and any add-ons such as video, and is stated in your proposal before you book.
- How long does it take?
- A typical session lasts 1 hour and you receive around 30 edited photos.
- What is included?
- A short exchange before the day: the city, the time, what you want to see and the kind of photos you like
- A route past two or three landmarks close together, planned around the light and the crowds at that hour
- A meeting point at your hotel or an agreed landmark
- About 60 minutes of photography in the starting package: landmark frames, portraits and candid shots on the move
- Where does it take place?
- Popular places include Warsaw, Kraków, Gdańsk, Wrocław, and Zakopane. Your photographer suggests the best spot for your date, the light and the crowds.
- Who is it for?
- Solo travellers who want photos of the trip with themselves in them
- Couples on a city break or honeymoon in Kraków, Gdańsk or Warsaw
- Families sightseeing with children who want one good picture of everyone
- Friends on a trip together, including hen and stag weekends
- How does booking work?
- Send a free request with your place, date and plans. Kadrova checks which photographers are available and replies with a proposal stating the photographer, the package and the exact price. Nothing is booked until you accept.
Most trips come home with hundreds of photos of buildings and a handful of the people who were there, usually at arm's length. A vacation photographer turns that around: you walk through the city, and someone who knows every corner puts you where the backdrop, the light and the crowds work in your favour.
The session doubles as a walk. In Kraków the Main Market Square, Wawel, the Planty and Kazimierz are all within about 15 minutes of each other on foot; in Gdańsk the Long Market, the Crane and Mariacka Street are a few minutes apart. An hour covers two or three different backdrops, and the photographer knows when each is empty: Kraków's square and Gdańsk's Long Market are yours at sunrise, before the tour groups arrive.
If you are looking for a photographer in Kraków for tourists, or anywhere else on your route, Kadrova matches you with an independent local who knows the city and works in English, and sends a proposal with their name, package and price before anything is booked. You meet at your hotel or at a landmark, and finish somewhere worth staying on.
How it works
- 1
Send a request
Tell us the city, the dates of your stay, how many of you there are and the time of day that suits you. If you are not sure what you want to see, just tell us where you are staying. The request is free and carries no obligation.
- 2
We match a photographer and a route
We look for a photographer who knows the city, works in English and is free during your stay, and reply personally. If a big event falls on your dates, such as St Dominic's Fair in Gdańsk, we suggest an hour or a route with fewer crowds.
- 3
You receive a proposal
It names the photographer and states the duration, what is included, the price and the payment terms, including what happens if the weather turns. The delivery time is stated there too.
- 4
The walk
The photographer agrees a meeting point with you, such as your hotel, the Barbican in Kraków or the Green Gate in Gdańsk, and plans the route so you finish in a good place to carry on exploring.
Where the session happens
In Kraków, a walk usually links the Main Market Square and the Cloth Hall with the Planty and either Wawel seen from the Dębniki boulevards or Kazimierz; every hour the hejnał bugle call sounds from St Mary's tower. A Warsaw photo walk usually covers the Old Town of Warsaw, rebuilt after 1945 and listed by UNESCO, from Castle Square to the terrace overlooking the Vistula and Praga. In Gdańsk it is the Long Market, the Crane and Mariacka Street, and the pier in Sopot is under half an hour away by SKM train. In Wrocław, time the walk to end on Ostrów Tumski as the lamplighter lights the gas lamps; in Toruń, the whole Gothic Old Town fits into one walk. Sessions in Zakopane start from PLN 1,050.
Preparation tips
- Book the session for the first or second day of your trip, so there is time to reschedule if the weather turns.
- For an empty Main Square in Kraków or Long Market in Gdańsk, meet at sunrise; after 10:00 you share them with tour groups.
- Polish old towns are cobbled. Wear comfortable shoes and dress as you would for a nice evening out.
- Leave backpacks and large bags at the hotel. A phone and a wallet fit in a pocket, and nothing bulges in the photos.
- If you are planning a proposal, say so straight away. It is photographed differently.
- In Gdańsk in summer, check the dates of St Dominic's Fair, which fills the Main Town with stalls from late July into August.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a vacation photographer in Poland cost?
A photo walk through Kadrova starts from PLN 750 for about an hour in a city, or from PLN 1,050 in Zakopane. The price rises with a longer walk, a sunrise start or a second area that needs travel. You see the exact figure in your proposal before you book.
Will the photographer speak English?
Language is one of the things we match on. Say in your request that you want to plan and shoot in English, or name another language, and we look for a photographer who works in it and is free on your dates.
What does a Kraków photo walk cover in an hour?
Usually the Main Market Square with the Cloth Hall and St Mary's Basilica, then either the Planty and Wawel seen from the river or the lanes of Kazimierz. They are all within about 15 minutes on foot, so an hour leaves time to walk between them. Wawel sets its own rules for sessions on the hill, which is one reason photographers shoot it from the far bank.
Can the photographer meet us at our hotel?
Yes, a hotel meeting point works well if you are staying near the route. If your hotel is further out, it is better to meet at the first landmark, such as the Barbican in Kraków or the Green Gate in Gdańsk, so session time is not spent travelling. You agree the details with the photographer after booking.
Can I propose during the photo walk?
Yes, but then book a proposal photographer instead, from PLN 950. The photographer waits out of sight for the question and photographs you both afterwards. For Kraków, read proposing in Kraków.
What if it rains during our trip?
Light rain is no obstacle: the Cloth Hall arcades, the gateways of Kazimierz or St Mary's Gate in Gdańsk give shelter, and wet cobbles reflect the light nicely. With a poor forecast the photographer will suggest another hour or another day of your stay. Rescheduling terms are in your proposal.
How do I book?
Send a free availability request with the city and the dates of your stay. We reply personally, and the booking is confirmed when you accept the proposal.
