A newborn session takes place in your home. There is no need to travel with a baby a few days old or pack a bag for half a day — the photographer brings what they need, and you stay at your own pace, with feeds, changes and breaks whenever necessary.

Safety comes first. The baby is always within arm’s reach of a parent or the photographer, poses are natural and never forced, and nothing hangs above the baby or is placed up high. Curled, sleepy frames are easiest in the first two weeks, when newborns sleep a lot, but a lifestyle session with parents and everyday moments works later too. Many international families in Warsaw ask for an English-speaking photographer.

Where the session happens

  1. 01

    Bedroom by a large window

The heart of the session: a bed or another stable, soft surface by the window, with side light that shapes the baby’s face and hands. A window without direct sun works best — ideally north-facing, or east-facing in the afternoon. Net curtains can stay, as they diffuse the light.

Best time: Late morning, when daylight is even.

  2. 02

    The parents’ bed

Frames with mum and dad: cuddles, feeding, hands holding tiny feet. White or light plain bedding makes the calmest background. These are the pictures that mean most years later.

Best time: During the session, when the baby is fed and sleepy.

  3. 03

    Living room and sofa

The place for photos with siblings and the whole family. The older child sits comfortably and the baby lies on their lap, supported by a parent just out of frame. It is also a good spot for a pet if you want one in the picture.

Best time: Early in the session, before the older child gets bored.

  4. 04

    Nursery and cot

Details that will change within a few years: the cot, first outfits, a handmade blanket, a name on the wall. In the cot the baby is photographed from above or the side, always flat on their back, with no pillows or loose items around.

Best time: Any time; a lamp plus window light is enough.

  5. 05

A nearby park for a short walk

On warm days the family part can end with a short stroll — in Łazienki, Pole Mokotowskie, Skaryszewski Park or simply the park by your building. The baby stays in the carrier or pram, and the photos focus on parents and siblings.

Best time: May to September, short and unhurried.

Typically included

  • A call beforehand about the due date, your home and what you hope for
  • Around 2.5 hours at home, at the baby’s pace
  • Photos of the newborn, parents and siblings
  • Natural, safe poses, never forced
  • Editing of the selected images
  • A private online gallery; delivery date in the proposal

Preparation

  • Book while still pregnant with an approximate due date; the exact day is set after the birth.
  • Warm the room to around 24–26°C — an unwrapped or lightly swaddled newborn gets cold quickly.
  • Feed the baby just before the photographer arrives or at the start of the session.
  • Have light, plain bedding and one calm blanket ready; avoid busy patterns.
  • Parents: light, plain clothes without slogans; for mum, something comfortable that makes feeding easy.
  • The photographer comes healthy, washes their hands before touching the baby and wears no perfume; if anyone at home is ill, move the date.

Time of day

Late morning is best, roughly 9:00 to 13:00, when the flat has the most daylight and many newborns sleep well after the morning feed. In winter, when Warsaw gets dark around 15:30, an afternoon start leaves too little light.

Weather

Because the session happens indoors, weather matters mainly for light. On overcast days window light is soft and even, which suits newborns. Winter days in Warsaw are short, so start before noon. A park stroll is planned only on warm, still days — if the weather turns, you simply stay in.

Getting there

The photographer comes to you; travel outside Warsaw may add a fee, shown in your proposal. In apartment blocks and tenements it helps to share parking details, the intercom code and the floor. If you plan a stroll, choose a park a few minutes from home.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a newborn photoshoot in Warsaw?

A newborn session in your Warsaw home costs from PLN 1,100 for about 2.5 hours. Extra family frames, a walk, an album or travel outside the city are added in the proposal, and we confirm the booking once you accept it.

When is the best time for newborn photos?

Most often in the first two weeks, when the baby sleeps a lot and settles easily into curled, natural positions. A lifestyle session with parents and siblings also works a little later in the first weeks. The date is pencilled in during pregnancy and confirmed after the birth.

Is a newborn photoshoot safe?

Yes, when it relies on natural poses and constant spotting. The baby is always within reach of a parent or the photographer, never placed up high or in hanging props, and the room is warm. A parent can stop or change any shot.

Why is the session at home?

Home spares the baby and mum a journey in the first days after birth and gives you calm, your own bed and unhurried feeds. Pictures in your own interior also have a personal feel that a studio cannot give.

Does our flat need to be big?

No. One room with a window and a little free space by the bed is enough. The photographer frames the shots so that mess elsewhere in the flat stays out of view.

Can the photographer speak English?

Photographers in Warsaw speak various languages, listed in their profiles. Tell us in your enquiry which language you want for the session and we will factor it in when choosing.
